Ubuntu – “I am because we are.”

We chose this name for these beads because when reading about African culture we came across this term and its bountiful meaning and it really struck us as perfect. We try to look at a design and describe how it makes us feel or often research its origins, history, or artistic process. “Ubuntu is the essence of being human. It speaks particularly about the fact that you cannot exist as a human being in isolation. It speaks about our interconnectedness. When you have Ubuntu as a quality, you are known for your generosity. We think of ourselves far too frequently as just individuals, separated from one another, whereas we are connected and what you do affects the whole world. When you do well, it spreads out; it is for the whole of HUMANITY.” -Archbishop Desmond Tutu

About the beads
These glass beads are indigenously produced in Africa. They are comprised of recycled glass that has been heated -which makes them very durable. They range in color and have an organically imperfect shape, texture and overall beachy feel. We are offering these bracelets in 3 colors and 4 sizes. Size up if anything -due to the dimension of the beads (10MM)
